Judy Burrell is, in her own words, an interior designer, consultant and cabinet maker. That combination is the point of JB Custom Design: the person who draws your cabinets is the person who makes sure they're built to fit the wall, the way you live and the rest of the house.

Every piece is designed for one room in one home in Las Vegas, Henderson or the wider valley: kitchens and islands, bars, closets, offices, laundry rooms, media walls, vanities and the odd corners nobody else would bother with.

Building cabinets for Las Vegas homes

Many valley homes are builder-grade tract houses with 9′ and 10′ ceilings. One of Judy's most common changes is taking the upper cabinets all the way up, which turns empty wall into storage and makes the room feel taller.

In the City of Las Vegas, replacing cabinets and countertops is listed as work that does not need a building permit. Moving walls or plumbing, adding circuits or installing a range exhaust does. Henderson and unincorporated Clark County run their own building departments, so the rules are confirmed for your address during planning.

Custom cabinetry and built-ins: questions homeowners ask

What's the difference between custom, semi-custom and ready-to-assemble cabinets?

Ready-to-assemble and semi-custom cabinets come in set sizes and styles, and the room is fitted around them. Custom cabinets are designed for your room, so sizes, depths, finishes and interior fittings are chosen to fit the wall and the way you use it. JB Custom Design designs custom cabinetry and also adapts existing cabinets where that makes more sense.

Do I need a permit to replace kitchen cabinets in Las Vegas?

The City of Las Vegas lists cabinets and countertops as finish work that does not need a building permit. A permit is needed if the project moves walls, relocates plumbing, adds wiring or installs a range exhaust. Henderson and Clark County have their own building departments, so check with yours or ask Judy to confirm during planning.

Can you match new cabinets to cabinets I already have?

Yes. Matching is common: a new makeup vanity built to match an existing bathroom vanity, or entry cabinets painted to match the kitchen base cabinets. Judy matches the finish, door style and hardware so the new piece looks original to the house.

Which rooms do you build cabinetry for?

Kitchens and islands, butler's pantries, bars and beverage centers, walk-in closets and wardrobes, home offices, laundry rooms and mudrooms, media walls and fireplaces, bathroom vanities, and special rooms like a travel and sewing room.

How much do custom cabinets cost?

Prices aren't published because every room is different. After the in-home meeting and design, you receive an itemized scope with material and labor broken out, so you can see exactly where the budget goes before anything is built.
