Custom bathroom vanities and storage

Bathrooms are where storage gets creative: a deep inset medicine cabinet, a linen closet set into a wall nobody was using, a vanity with lots of little drawers. JB Custom Design designs bathroom cabinetry to fit the room and the routine.

Projects include a walnut makeup vanity made to match an existing primary-bath vanity, natural beech vanities with a herringbone inlay, and a primary bathroom with storage hiding in the walls.

How it works

  1. A 90-minute in-home meeting about style, budget and time frame.
  2. Creative visuals, materials and colours chosen together, timeline and budget set.
  3. A clear, itemized scope with material and labor broken out.
  4. The build, with trades and vendors properly vetted and clear communication throughout.

Hard water and bathroom finishes

Las Vegas water is very hard, about 16 to 17 grains per gallon according to the Las Vegas Valley Water District, so faucet finishes and stone tops are worth choosing with cleaning in mind.

Bathroom vanities and storage: questions homeowners ask

Can you build a new vanity to match my existing one?

Yes. A walnut makeup vanity in a translucent grey stain was built to sit beside an existing primary-bath vanity, and it looks as if it was there from the beginning.

How can I get more storage in a small bathroom?

Look at the walls: a deep inset medicine cabinet, or a linen closet set into an unused wall, adds storage without taking floor space. A vanity with more, smaller drawers also holds more than one big cabinet.

Does replacing a vanity need a permit?

In the City of Las Vegas, repairing or replacing a sink or faucet is listed as not needing a permit, but altering piping inside a wall does. Henderson and Clark County have their own building departments.

Do you design the whole bathroom?

Yes. Judy also handles tile, wallpaper, lighting and colour as part of interior design, so the vanity is planned with the rest of the room.
