Kitchen design and remodels for Las Vegas homes
Most kitchens Judy sees aren't too small. They're laid out for someone else: a builder's standard plan, a desk nobody uses, upper cabinets that stop two feet short of the ceiling, a pantry that swallows food.
JB Custom Design plans the kitchen around the people in it: who cooks, who gathers, how many need a seat at the island, where the coffee lives. Then the cabinetry is designed and built to fit, with the trades lined up behind it.

What's included
Layout
Whether to keep the footprint or change it: taking a wall out, closing up a sliding door, moving the largest appliance, extending an island so five kids have a seat.
Cabinetry inside and out
Uppers to the ceiling, glass and lighting at the top, and the pull-outs that make a kitchen work: trash and recycling, spices, trays, pans, a mixer lift.
Surfaces
Countertops, backsplashes and hardware chosen with you and with suppliers Judy works with regularly.
Refresh or remodel
Not every kitchen needs gutting. A refresh can add pull-outs, a hood surround to the ceiling or new uppers in a butler's pantry.
An itemized scope
Every cost broken out into material and labor before work starts.
How it works
- A 90-minute in-home meeting about style, budget and time frame.
- Creative visuals, materials and colours chosen together, timeline and budget set.
- A clear, itemized scope with material and labor broken out.
- The build, with trades and vendors properly vetted and clear communication throughout.
Las Vegas kitchens: hard water, high ceilings and permits
Las Vegas water is very hard: the Las Vegas Valley Water District puts it at about 16 to 17 grains per gallon. That's worth thinking about when choosing countertops, sink finishes and where the faucet sits.
In the City of Las Vegas, new cabinets and countertops are listed as finish work that doesn't need a permit, but relocating plumbing, adding circuits, gas work and range exhausts do. Henderson and Clark County run their own building departments.
Kitchen design and remodels: questions homeowners ask
Should I keep my kitchen layout or change it?
Keeping the layout usually saves money because plumbing, gas and electrical stay where they are. Changing it can fix a kitchen that doesn't work for the people in it. Judy looks at both during the 90-minute in-home meeting and shows you the options in creative visuals before you decide.
Can you refresh my kitchen instead of remodelling it?
Yes. A refresh might add pull-outs, spice storage, a hood surround to the ceiling, new uppers in a butler's pantry or USB outlets, while keeping the rest of the kitchen. It's a good fit when the cabinets are sound but the kitchen doesn't work well.
What countertops work with Las Vegas hard water?
Las Vegas water is very hard, about 16 to 17 grains per gallon according to the Las Vegas Valley Water District, so mineral spots around the sink are a fact of life. Judy talks through stone and finish choices with you and how each one cleans up, so the counters suit the way you use the kitchen.
Does a kitchen remodel need a permit in Las Vegas?
In the City of Las Vegas, replacing cabinets and countertops doesn't need a building permit, but moving walls or plumbing, adding wiring, gas work and kitchen range exhausts do. Henderson and Clark County have their own building departments, so the rules are confirmed for your address.
What's in the itemized scope?
A written list of the work, with every cost broken out into material and labor, and the trades and vendors involved. You see where the money goes before anything is ordered.
