Are you LIVING in your living room?

A client reached out and wanted their new Living Room and Fireplace that was to be their main entertainment and family gathering space to have a modern but eclectic feel. It sat adjacent to their kitchen, which had a modern flat paneled cabinet with a deep hazelnut stain that they wanted to flow through the living room. Their fireplace was central and sat at the high point of the vaulted ceiling.

What Did We Do?

We wanted to use a tile that had the look of stacked stone but was flat and softer in appearance. We tiled all around the bump out and designed a surround for the TV and fireplace that was shallow to cover the area, but not have a large projection into the space. To make it unique we opted to use solid powder coated sheet metal to give the Fireplace more definition and balance the large screen TV.

The finishing touch was the draperies added to the windows to frame the space and add a little softer touch. The results are beautiful and accent the height of the room and define the space.

We were able to work with a blank canvas, which is always fun, but were also met with the challenge of tying in an adjacent room’s design. The porcelain stone look really creates a soft but textural wall to show off the modern surround.
